I offer grooming and bathing services for dogs and cats of all ages, in your residence, in a familiar and comfortable environment for your pet. I will always work exclusively at one animal at a time. Although occasionally a very curious cat or very jealous pet sibling asks for my attention or "interrupts" the grooming session, and I can't really resist... After all, it's all about the pet, at least for me and my clients.
I value the relationship with your pet, I am a pet parent myself, so I understand very well what works and what doesn't. When you schedule an appointment, please prepare for about 1-2 hours, depending on your pet.

Dog Grooming
Every treatment has first and foremost the interest of the pet in mind. If, at any point during the grooming session, I feel the animal is in pain or severe discomfort, I will stop. I reserve the right to decline out-of-control or overly aggressive animals, both for their sake and my health. The humane treatment of any pet is my first goal, and I will do my best to accommodate any dog, small or large. My grooming philosophy is based on mutual trust: I trust them to not hurt me, and vice versa. I think animals sense my good intentions and I rarely have any problems, I rarely restrain the dog, even on my grooming table (they don't want to get off, really), and I don't muzzle a dog.
The usual grooming session lasts about 90-120 minutes. Not every dog needs a bath. A thorough brush out, followed with conditioner, can make a huge difference in the animals' appearance. For bathing I use your facilities like a kitchen or utility sink. Medium sized and larger dogs can relax - there will be no bath! The session ends with ear cleaning and trimming of nails, if your pet lets me. Some dogs are particularly sensitive when it comes to nail trimming. If your pet refuses to cooperate or shows aggression, the veterinarian is the better choice for clipping nails. I do not want to stress out the animal unnecessarily, nor do I want to or get hurt.
Poodles and all Doodles create a unique challenge for home grooming. If looks and appearance are important to you, the grooming salon is the better option. I usually meet and greet you and your pet to see if we are a good fit.
Cat Grooming
I am a cat man, deep down. I do not bathe cats, unless they are used to it. I use waterless shampoo and leave in conditioner to clean the coat, along with brushes and combs.
The cat always starts out in my lap, and I don't use any restraint other than my hands. They generally love the attention and grooming, but not all do. I see a fair amount of cats where I have only about 10-15 minutes before she decides to kill me. Usually enough time to get the worst mats and problems under control.
As with aggressive dogs, the same holds true for cats. If your cat is not cooperating at all, I won't touch her and suggest the veterinarian instead.
